Where psychological healing and growth meets spiritual awakening
Transpersonal coaching
Sometimes you reach a point in your inner journey where understanding yourself better is no longer enough. You may have spent years exploring psychology, therapy or personal development, yet sense there is more to who you are than the person you've learned to be. Or perhaps you've had experiences that have opened up a different sense of reality, consciousness or connection, leaving you wondering how to understand them and what they mean for your life.
Transpersonal coaching offers a space to explore these questions, moving beyond familiar ways of understanding yourself towards a wider experience of who you are.
Beyond the personal
The word transpersonal means beyond the personal. It points towards dimensions of our experience that extend beyond our familiar identity, personality, history and conditioning. This isn't about rejecting your personal life or trying to transcend your humanity. It's about exploring who you are beyond the limited perspective from which you may have learned to see yourself and the world.
When we're caught up in a problem, our attention can become narrow. We see the situation through familiar beliefs, assumptions and expectations, often without realising how much they shape what seems possible. Transpersonal coaching helps you explore from a wider perspective, opening space for new insights, possibilities and ways of being to emerge.
Sometimes the shift is subtle, bringing a new understanding of a familiar situation. At other times, it can change your sense of who you are, how you relate to others or what matters most to you.
Open awareness: a different way of seeing
Open awareness is central to my approach. Rather than concentrating exclusively on a problem and trying to think your way towards a solution, we create space for a broader, more receptive way of experiencing what's happening.
This includes awareness of your own thoughts and feelings, your relationship with other people, the situation you're in and the wider context that connects them. As your perspective expands, you may begin to see things that were previously obscured by the way you understood yourself or the problem.
My role isn't to give you answers or impose a particular interpretation. It's to hold a space in which you can explore openly, question familiar assumptions and allow new perspectives to emerge. Through careful listening, reflection and inquiry, we follow what becomes relevant rather than forcing the work towards a predetermined outcome.
The aim isn't simply to find a better answer within your existing perspective, but to discover what becomes possible when that perspective expands.
Integrating psychology and spirituality
I don't see psychological healing and spiritual awakening as separate journeys. They can be different dimensions of the same unfolding process.
Our personal history, conditioning, fears and protective patterns influence how we experience ourselves and the world. Bringing these into awareness can help us recognise where our view of ourselves has become restricted. At the same time, spiritual experiences or moments of expanded awareness can open up a different understanding of who we are and how we relate to life.
Neither dimension needs to exclude the other. We can explore the aspects of ourselves that have been difficult to acknowledge while remaining open to experiences of presence, connection, wholeness or a deeper sense of our essential nature. The aim isn't to use spirituality to escape personal difficulties, nor to reduce every experience to a psychological explanation. It's to allow these perspectives to inform one another, supporting a more integrated understanding of yourself and your experience.
Making sense of spiritual awakening
If you're going through a spiritual awakening, or something that feels like one, you may find that familiar beliefs, priorities and ways of seeing yourself begin to change. You might experience a deeper sense of presence or connection, question assumptions you've held for years, or feel that the identity you once relied on no longer describes your experience.
Such changes can be profound, but they can also leave you feeling uncertain about how to understand what's happening or how to integrate it into everyday life.
Transpersonal coaching offers space to explore these experiences without dismissing them or assuming in advance what they mean. We can look at the questions they raise, the changes they bring to your life and how you might make sense of them in a way that feels authentic to you.
The aim isn't to chase extraordinary experiences or reach a particular spiritual state. It's to explore what your experience reveals, allow new understanding to develop and discover how it can inform the way you live. If an experience is causing significant distress or affecting your ability to manage everyday life, appropriate medical or mental health support may also be important. Spiritual exploration and professional healthcare can complement one another.
Bringing it into everyday life
Profound insights and expanded awareness are only part of the journey. What matters is how it all becomes part of the way you live. You might begin to see a longstanding difficulty from a completely different perspective, discover a clearer sense of meaning or purpose, or recognise possibilities that weren't apparent before. The next step is to explore how that shift can inform your choices, relationships, work and everyday interactions.
Sometimes this leads to a significant change in direction. Sometimes it reveals a small but meaningful change in how you approach a familiar situation. The point isn't to achieve a particular outcome, but to discover what follows naturally from a deeper understanding of yourself and your place in the world.
Transpersonal coaching connects expanded awareness with practical transformation, helping new perspectives find expression in the life you're actually living.
Who is this for?
This work may suit you if you're curious, self-aware and willing to explore beyond familiar ways of understanding yourself. Perhaps you've already done considerable therapy or personal development and feel there is more to discover. Perhaps you're questioning your identity, meaning or purpose, or navigating experiences that have changed your relationship with yourself and the world.
You don't need to identify as spiritual, follow a particular tradition or have experienced a spiritual awakening. You might arrive with a specific challenge, a sense that something is missing, or simply a curiosity about what lies beyond your current understanding.
What matters is a willingness to explore openly, question your assumptions and take responsibility for integrating what you discover. This isn't about someone else telling you who you are or what your experience means. It's about creating the space for you to discover that for yourself.
My work draws on transpersonal coaching alongside psychological inquiry and other approaches where they're useful. The process is shaped around you, rather than requiring you to follow a prescribed method or reach a predetermined destination.
Ready to begin?
You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what needs to change. You simply need to sense that something isn't quite as you'd like it, and be open to exploring it.
Transpersonal coaching requires you to take ownership of your own healing and growth, to be willing to look honestly at yourself, and to engage with the process between sessions as well as during them. It's long-term work and it asks for commitment. So, if you’re looking for a quick fix, or for someone to make everything better for you, another form of support may be a better fit.

What is transpersonal coaching?
Transpersonal coaching explores who you are beyond your familiar sense of identity, including your personality, history, assumptions and conditioning. It combines psychological understanding with open awareness and exploration of meaning, consciousness and spirituality. The aim is to broaden your perspective, support transformation and help you bring new understanding into everyday life.
How is transpersonal coaching different from therapy?
There is overlap between the two, but they tend to emphasise different aspects of the journey. Therapy often focuses on emotional difficulties, psychological patterns and the effects of past experiences. Transpersonal coaching also explores awareness, meaning, identity and experiences that may extend beyond your usual sense of self. In my work, these perspectives can complement one another. We can explore personal difficulties while remaining open to a wider understanding of your experience. The emphasis depends on what you bring and what becomes relevant as we work together.
Do I need to be spiritual or religious?
No. You don't need to be spiritual or religious, or to have experienced a spiritual awakening. What matters is a willingness to explore your experience openly, without needing to adopt a particular belief system.
What happens during a transpersonal coaching session?
Sessions involve conversation, reflection, open inquiry and periods of exploring your experience more directly. Rather than following a fixed script, we create space for you to look beyond your familiar perspective and notice what emerges. We might begin with a particular challenge or question, then explore the assumptions, meanings and perspectives shaping it. Sometimes this leads to a new understanding of the issue; sometimes the exploration opens into broader questions of identity, awareness or purpose. We then consider how any insights can become meaningful in your life.
Can transpersonal coaching help with everyday problems?
Yes. Transpersonal coaching isn't only for spiritual questions or extraordinary experiences. It can also help you approach familiar challenges from a different perspective. A recurring difficulty in a relationship, a decision about your direction in life or a sense of being stuck may look different when you become aware of the assumptions and self-concepts shaping your experience. The aim is to discover new perspectives and possibilities, then explore how they can translate into practical change.
I think I'm going through a spiritual awakening. Can you help?
Absolutely. I can offer a space to explore what you're experiencing, make sense of the questions it raises and consider how to integrate it into your life. Experiences described as spiritual awakening vary considerably, and they can bring both profound insights and uncertainty. We can explore your experience without imposing an interpretation or assuming that every unusual experience has a spiritual explanation.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone's journey is different. You may gain useful clarity within a few sessions, while deeper exploration and integration can take longer. There is no universal timetable for personal transformation or spiritual development. I offer five-session packages, with sessions normally taking place weekly. This provides continuity while leaving you free to decide how long you want to continue. The work asks for commitment and a willingness to explore, but there is no prescribed endpoint.
